What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is based on an understanding of the body’s 12 main energy pathways, which are called meridians. These meridians are linked to the body’s main organ systems and when they become blocked, under active or over active, you can experience illness in different forms.
Needles are not always required for your treatment, but when they are used it will only be between two and four needles and these will always be sterile and disposable.
For patients considering acupuncture for the first time, it is also important to note that the treatment is not painful.
Your acupuncture session will be relaxing. Many patients report a very good night’s sleep after their treatment, before starting to feel the overall benefits a day or two later.
I use acupuncture points below the elbows and knees, meaning you can remain seated and clothed for your comfort.
Each session is different. Two patients with the same symptoms may require different treatment, depending on many personal factors. Once I have made a full diagnosis, your treatment will be tailored to you and is likely to use a combination of my techniques for the best results.
